2026年、eスポーツシーンで長年にわたり挑戦を続けてきた“あきらめなかった者たち”が、ついにタイトルを手にしました。

「NiKo」10年の挑戦を経てメジャータイトルを獲得

競技として『Counter-Strike』シリーズをプレーする者にとって、メジャーは最高峰の大会です。そのタイトルを手にすることは、最も名誉ある実績の1つです。

世界最高のライフラーの1人と評価されるNikola “NiKo” Kovač選手は、この栄誉を手にするため、10年間で17回にわたってメジャーへの挑戦を続けてきました。

そして2026年6月、メジャー大会『Intel Extreme Masters Cologne Major 2026』でついに優勝を達成しました。

本大会では、歴史上最高のチームと評価される「Team Vitality」、17歳でメジャーを制した「donk」を擁する「Team Spirit」、ブラジルの伝説的プレイヤーFalleN率いる「FURIA」などが優勝候補に挙げられていました。

「NiKo」が所属する「Team Falcons」も強力なメンバーをそろえていましたが、優勝を予想していたファンは決して多くなかったと思います。

NiKo選手が所属する「Team Falcons」はこれらの強豪を全て打ち倒し、誰も文句の付けようがない優勝を達成しました。その姿と、NiKoが長年の挑戦を経て夢をかなえたことは多くのファンに感動を与え、惜しみない称賛が送られました。

「QT DIG∞」6年の挑戦を経て初優勝

2026年7月26日、「九州から世界へ」を掲げて活動する日本のプロeスポツチーム「QT DIG∞」が、6年にわたる挑戦を経て『VALORANT』公式大会で初優勝を達成しました。

「QT DIG∞」は日本トップクラスの実力を持つチームですが、決勝進出や優勝にはこれまであと一歩のところで手が届きませんでした。

キャプテンのmisaya選手は2021年9月から、Relifeヘッドコーチは2022年12月から、「QT DIG∞」の日本一を目指して取り組んできました。

勝てるチームを作るのは、本当に難しいことです。
優秀な選手を獲得するには、豊富な資金やチームのブランド力も必要となります。
強力なメンバーをそろえたとしても必ず勝てるわけではありません。

「QT DIG∞」は、のちに国際大会で何度も優勝することになる「something」選手を見いだし起用したこともありましたが、それでも優勝トロフィーには手が届きませんでした。

チームを運営していた株式会社戦国は、2026年4月に親会社の株式会社QTnetへ吸収合併され、運営体制が大きく変化しました。チームにとっては、これも大きな出来事だったと思います。

同じような状況を経験したことがある方なら、この大変さを理解できると思います。新体制での取り組みが軌道に乗り、実績につながるまでには長い時間がかかります。

このような状況でも、misaya選手、Relifeコーチ、運営チーム、そして選手たちはあきらめませんでした。

国際リーグでのプレー経験を持つトップクラスの選手たちを擁する優勝候補「REJECT」を相手に、最終第5マップまでもつれる戦いを制し、ついに優勝トロフィーを手にしました。

トロフィーを手にしたmisaya選手の目には、涙が浮かんでいました。

優勝できるのは、あきらめなかったゲーマーだけ

NiKo選手と「QT DIG∞」が成し遂げた優勝は、頂点に到達することを決してあきらめなかった情熱によって実現したものであり、非常に心を打たれました。

eスポーツにおけるトップレベルの競争は熾烈を極め、簡単に優勝できるものではありません。

日本一や世界一になることを夢見てプレーしていても、厳しい現実を前に夢をかなえられないまま競技シーンを離れるプレイヤーが大半です。

成績が振るわなくても、優勝候補に挙げられなくても、さまざまな壁にぶつかっても、挑戦を続けなければ優勝にはたどり着けません。

最終的に優勝できる可能性を残せるのは、あきらめなかったゲーマーだけです。

チームゲームの場合、自分だけでなく、仲間やスタッフも「優勝できる」と信じ続ける必要があります。

だからこそ、NiKo選手と「QT DIG∞」が長年にわたってあきらめることなく挑戦を続け、トロフィーを手にしたことに感銘を受けました。
