―― 多くのチームがチームの形や戦術を作り上げるためにブートキャンプに取り組みます。chopper選手は配信で「Team Spiritはみんなが疲弊してしまうからブートキャンプをしない」と言及しました。多くの人たちはそのことを疑問に思っているようです。donk選手はどのように考えていますか？
まず最初に、Team Spiritがブートキャンプをするかしないかというのは、コミュニティのみなさんには全く関係が無いことです。専門家やキャスターのみなさんが何を言うのも自由ですが、何を言われても自分たちは気にしません。
ブートキャンプを実施するかどうかは、チームの方針次第です。ブートキャンプの方が集中できるというチームもありますが、自分たちの場合は自宅からオンラインで練習する方が、集まってブートキャンプするよりもはるかに効率的だと感じています。
全員が一つの部屋に集まると騒がしくてすぐに疲れてしまいます。オンラインならばそのようなことはなく、多くの練習やチーム活動をすることができます。
Team Spiritはブートキャンプなしでもメジャー大会で優勝しました。それでもブートキャンプをしないのは問題なのでしょうか？優勝した他の大会でもブートキャンプはしませんでした。ブートキャンプをしなかったことが敗因であったことは一度もありません。
長期間に渡って一緒に活動しているチームが、ブートキャンプをする必要はないと思います。チームビルディングをしたり、お互いの仲を深める必要がないからです。普段から一緒に過ごしているし、Counter-Strikeについても様々な話をしています。
同じ部屋で1日10時間いっしょに過ごしながら1ヶ月に渡ってトーナメントに参加し、その上でブートキャンプすることを想像してみてください。感情的にもメンタル的にもかなり大変です。
ブートキャンプは必ずやらなけばいけないものではありません。今後、ブートキャンプが必要だと判断したら実施するかもしれませんが、いまのところ必要性は感じていません。
ブートキャンプについて
ブートキャンプは、チームゲームにおいて大会前などにチームメンバーが1箇所に集合して行なわれる強化練習です。
チームメンバーが集まって練習をすることで、相手に意見をすぐに伝えられる、表情から相手の反応をうかがうことができる、お互いをより良く知ることができるなど、コミュニケーション面を中心にプラスの効果を期待することができます。
自宅ではなく、普段とは違う環境で仲間と共にプレーすることで、オフラインでのプレーに慣れるようなこともメリットと考えられます。
デメリットとしては、donk選手が言及していたように他人と長時間過ごす事は非常にストレスになることが挙げられます。チームにとってはブートキャンプ実施の費用負担もあります。
ブートキャンプがトレンドとなった初期は、チームが寝食を共にしながら練習するスタイルが一般的でした。これは費用や共同生活のストレスなどがデメリットで、現状では練習の時だけ集合して実施するなど、各チームがさまざまな工夫をしながらブートキャンプを実施しています。
現在では、大型大会前にはブートキャンプを実施するのが一般的となっています。しかし、Team Spiritはオンラインのみでの練習でも公式大会で世界一になれることを証明しました。
