公開された動画は、今後の「Metizport」がどのような体制で挑んでいくかを説明するもので、その中でスウェーデンCounter-Strikeの現状について言及するパートがありました。

その部分が非常に興味深かったので、以下で紹介します。

スウェーデンCounter-Strikeチームはレベルも予算も同規模

zEVES
まず、スウェーデンeスポーツのエコシステムが近年どのように変化してきたかについてお話したいと思います。

EYEBALLERS、Alliance、Johnny Speeds、そして私たちMetizportの競争が激化しています。
さらに大規模なチームとしてNinjas in Pyjamasが存在します。
小規模な新顔チームも増えてきています。

国内に少なくとも4つのプロチームがあるのは、エコシステムとしてはかなり良好と言えるでしょう。
一方、プロチームが増えると才能をめぐる競争が激化する面もあります。

4チームについて、予算の大小はありますが、だいたい同じようなものです。
以前は、この差がかなり大きなものでした。

若手がスウェーデンチームで上を目指せない

zEVES
昔はNinjas in Pyjamasがスウェーデンを代表するチームで、スウェーデン人によるフルロスター時代は敵無しの状態でした。

スウェーデンの才能ある若手は、誰もがNinjas in Pyjamasに加入したいと思っていました。

当時のNinjas in Pyjamasが選手採用で気にするのは、海外チームからオファーくらいでした。
しかし、当時のスウェーデンプレイヤーは、基本的にスウェーデンのチームでプレーしたいと考えていました。

現在、スウェーデンで4つのチームが同レベルで競い合っていて、才能ある選手を海外チームに取られてしまう状況が起きています。

スウェーデン国内でトップに君臨するチームが存在しない状況のため、若手が腕を磨き加入を目指すという流れが無くなってしまっています。

仮にMetizportが国内トップチームだった場合、EYEBALLERS、Allianceで活躍する選手が、次にMetizport加入を目指すというような流れができるのが自然でした。
しかし、そのような流れを作る予算が私たちにはありません。

他のチームがどう考えているかはわかりませんが、4チームが同レベルで競い合っている状況では、理想の形を作り上げるのは非常に難しいのです。

つまり、現在のスウェーデンCounter-Strikeは、上がっていくことを目指すチームも、そこに入る方法もない状態というわけです。

Metizportはスウェーデンフルメンバー構成にこだわっています。スウェーデンの選手が、母国語でプレーすることができるプロチームです。

しかし、いまは海外チームから多くの誘惑があります。
Metizportが提示する給与の3～4倍を支払える海外チームは、いくつもあります。
そのようなチームに選手獲得でどのように太刀打ちすれば良いのでしょうか？

また、スウェーデンの選手たちは次のような悩みに直面しています。

「スウェーデンに留まるべきか？しかし、Metizportは1～2年で上に上がれるチームなのか？すぐに海外チームに行くべきなのか？」

給与の額がすべてではありません。
実際のところ、チーム選びが給与だけで決まるような話では無いことはわかっています。

しかし、給与の額が大きな要因であることも間違いありません。
実際に提示されている額を知っているからこそ、よくわかります。

現在、海外チームと同水準の給与を支払える資金力を持つスウェーデンチームは残念ながら存在しません。

いまこそ、Ninjas in Pyjamasが完全なスウェーデンロスターでチームを構成するべき時なのかもしれません。

EYEBALLERS、Alliance、Johnny Speeds、Metizportが下部組織のような形になり、選手を育成して供給することができます。しかし、実際はそうなっていません。その結果、才能あるスウェーデンの選手は海外チームと契約してしまうのです。

niloがその例で、adambもOGに加入して素晴らしいプレーを見せています。
もちろん、彼らの成功をうれしく思っています。

スウェーデンのeスポーツチームが次のレベルに行くことができるロスターを構築するには、Brollan、phzy、LNZ、yxngstxr、niloといった選手や、国際的なトップ選手がベンチに下がる状況を待つしかありません。

なぜなら、このような選手たちは移籍金が高額すぎるからです。
国際的な移籍市場で提示されてきた金額の移籍金を支払うのは、経済的に合理的とは思えません。

Metizportは現在のスウェーデンシーンの状況を踏まえて、獲得した選手について国際シーンでプレーできるか、国際レベルに到達するように育成可能かを見ています。

そのような選手たちを次のレベルに引き上げ、国際的なチームに送り出すことを目指しています。

スウェーデン国内の4チームは同じようなレベルにあるため、この中で各選手が移籍を繰り返しているだけになっています。

私たちはJohnny SpeedsからMaiL09を獲得しましたが、Johnny Speedsが手にした移籍金をどのように使っているかはわかりません。

そして、国内4チームはレベルも予算も同水準のため、MaiL09を獲得するために支払った金額相当の選手を新たに獲得したとしても、スウェーデン全体の発展にはつながりません。

手にした移籍金を新たな選手の獲得に使うのではなく、給与やチーム運営の費用に消えてしまうことも多いでしょう。

こういった資金の使われ方は、スウェーデンのCounter-Strikeシーン全体を発展させることにはつながりません。

国際ロスターへの方針転換を検討

zEVES
このような状況の中で、Metizportは今後どのような方針を打ち出していくべきでしょうか？

フルスウェーデンのロスターを維持するのであれば、経済的な問題が課題になります。

Metizportが関心を示しているWildcardのsuspとphzyを獲得するとなると、移籍金はかなりの額になります。

スウェーデンには才能ある選手が存在しますが、その数はそれほど多くありません。
新たなトップクラスの選手を獲得しようとすると、かなりの費用が必要になります。

選手獲得の費用をおさえるためには、さきほど言ったとおり有力な選手がベンチに下がったり契約終了になるのを待つしかありません。
しかし、そのようなやり方は持続可能ではないと思います。

Metizportの目標は常に明確で、Brollan、nilo、adamb、susp、phzy、L00m1、Plopski、MaiL09といった選手たちによるスウェーデンのスーパーチームを作ることです。
それがMetizportの一貫した野望でした。

しかし、これを実現するには莫大な資金が必要になります。Metizportは持続可能性を重視し、一歩ずつ着実に歩みを進め、状況に合わせた適切な判断を行ない、無理な判断をしない方針で運営しています。

そして、海外チームで活躍するスウェーデン出身の選手たちが、スウェーデンチームに戻りたいと思っているか、という点も課題です。それぞれの選手の気持ちは、正直なところわかりません。

現在のMetizportは成長の停滞とロールの衝突という問題が起きていて、修正を必要としています。

この問題を解決するためにはどうしたらよいでしょうか？
スウェーデンロスターを維持するのか、もしくは国際ロスターに切り換えるべきなのか。
どちらも上手くいく可能性がありますし、その逆もありえます。

Counter-Strike部門だけでなくMetizportという組織全体の構造を改革し、組織の文化や選手育成という点について考えると、国際ロスターを採用するタイミングなのかもしれないと感じています。

フルスウェーデンロスターの利点を信じているため、このようなことは非常に言いにくいことですが、チーム経営や競技といった観点では、国際ロスター化していくことが理にかなっています。

国際ロスター化するといっても、北欧選手にフォーカスした体制にしたいと思っています。スウェーデンの選手に加えて、デンマークやフィンランドの選手を加えた、北欧の選手を中心とする構成です。

過去2年半はフルスウェーデン構成で活動してきました。
スウェーデンカップで優勝し、メジャー出場を果たすまでになりました。

スウェーデンで多くの結果を残してきたからこそ、次のステップとして国際ロスター化を目指すときがやってきたのかもしれません。
