IOC、『Olympic Esports Games』を再編、サウジアラビアとの協力終了、新体制での開催を目指す

国際オリンピック委員会(IOC)が、2027年に予定していた『Olympic Esports Games(オリンピック・eスポーツ・ゲームズ)』について、サウジアラビアオリンピック・パラリンピック委員会との協力体制を解消すると発表しました。

『Olympic Esports Games』構想は、オリンピック・ムーブメントに関わるすべての関係者と、eスポーツコミュニティに大きな期待をもたらし、2027年の開催が心待ちにされてきました。

IOCとサウジアラビアオリンピック・パラリンピック委員会（SOPC）は、2024年に発表したパートナーシップに基づき、『Olympic Esports Games』のコンセプトについて長期間にわたり議論を重ねてきました。

そして最近、『Olympic Esports Games』構想について、IOC、SOPCにEsports World Cup Foundationを加えて再度の検討を行いました。

その結果、IOCとSOPCは『Olympic Esports Games』に関する協力関係を終了し、それぞれ独自の道でeスポーツに関する取り組みを進めていくことについて合意しました。

IOCは「Pause and Reflect」プロセスからのフィードバックを踏まえて『Olympic Esports Games』に対する新たなアプローチ、新たなパートナーシップモデルを模索していきます。

新たな取り組みでは、『Olympic Esports Games』をオリンピック・ムーブメントの長期的な目標により適合させ、大会がもたらす機会をより広く共有するとともに、第1回大会をできる限り早く開催することを目指していきます。
