「FalleN」「YEKINDAR」が語るアメリカ競技シーンの課題
『FURIA』のFalleN選手、YEKINDAR選手はアメリカシーンでのプレー経験があります。
アメリカの選手やチームがトップに16入れなかったことについて聞かれ、以下のようにコメントしました。
YEKINDAR
いまの北米シーンの状況は良くないと思います。
VALORANTが登場した時、その前のESL Pro Leagueすらなく北米限定のプロリーグが開催されていた時も良くありませんでした。昔は北米でもたくさんの大会が行なわれていましたが、ある時期から何も開催されないような状態になってしまいしました。
あらゆる大会がヨーロッパ中心になり、選手はヨーロッパに住んだり、移住してプレーすることを優先するようになりました。しかし、すべての選手ができることではありません。特に若い選手やティア2チームがヨーロッパでブートキャンプをしたり、移住してプレーするような機会はほとんどないのが現実です。
今回、北米チームはステージ3に進出できませんでした。
これはアメリカのファンが離れてしまうことも意味します。
北米の選手やチームがメジャーで活躍する姿を見て「自分もあんな風になりたい」と思う機会が失われてしまいます。1つのリージョンが失われてしまうというのは、コミュニティ全体、そしてCounter-Strikeというゲームにとっても本当に良くないことです。
もちろん北米シーンが完全に消滅してしまったわけではありませんが、活気があった頃と比べるといまの状況はとても寂しいです。」

昔は、北米・オーストラリア・ブラジルのコミュニティが1つにまとまっていました。
そのおかげでプレイヤーの層が厚くなり、各地域のチームと対戦する機会も多く、地域全体の成長に大きく貢献していました。しかし、COVIDの影響ですべてが難しくなりました。
今回、NRGはステージ2進出まであと1ラウンドというところまで手が届いていましたが、BIGの驚くべき逆転劇によって意外な結果となってしまいました。NRGがそこからさらに上に行けた可能性もあったわけです。

北米の状況についてジョークをいうこともありますが、例としてスウェーデンを見てみると、長年に渡って素晴らしい若手選手を輩出し続けています。
その一方、北米シーンではいまでもnitr0がトップチームを牽引する存在であり続けています。nitr0は何年プレーし続けているのでしょうか？
有望な若手が育成システムから出てこないのは深刻な状況です。

北米シーンはリーダーたちを失ってしまったと思います。
元iBUYPOWERのメンバーとかVALORANTに転向したプレイヤーたちが、ESEAなどを通じて「どうやったら上手くなれるか」「プロになるためには」といったすべてを教えてくれていました。
多くのプレイヤーに多大な影響を与える先生のような存在やIGLの多くを失ってしまったことが、シーンにとって大きな痛手になってしまいました。
いまも北米シーンにはAIMに優れ、才能にあふれるプレイヤーたちが存在しています。そのような選手たちを育ててくれる存在がいません。
ですが、誰も責めることはできません。
ブラジルのチームが活躍してアメリカ地域のメジャー出場枠を増やしてくれていましたが、自分たちでそのチャンスを活かして枠を増やすどころか維持することすらできませんでした。残念ながら、これがアメリカシーンの現状です。
