「Team Spirit」が優勝した『Dota 2』公式世界大会『The International 2026』の最大同時視聴者数が、大会歴代3位となる179万人を記録しました。

データを発表したのは、各種配信プラットフォームのデータを集計している「Esports Charts」です。
2026年大会は、コロナ禍に実施された2021年大会、OGが史上初の2連覇を達成した2019年大会に次ぐ、歴代3位の最大同時視聴者数となりました。
『The International』は大会関連のゲーム内アイテム販売による売上を賞金に配分する仕組みを採用しており、最も注目された2021年大会の賞金総額は「$40,018,195(約63億円、$1＝159.34円)」でした。
大会関連アイテムの開発には多くのリソースが割かれており、2023年以降はゲーム開発に注力する方針に転換されました。
その結果、賞金総額は一桁すくない数億円規模となり(それでもすごいですが)、大会に関する注目は下がったように見えました。
実際のところ、配信視聴数は今回の2026年大会が歴代3位、2025年大会が4位となっており、大会賞金総額や関連ゲーム内アイテムに依存しない形で人気を集める状況となっています。
