みなさん、こんにちは。
お久しぶりです。近況をお伝えするのがずいぶん遅くなってしまいました。できるだけ簡潔にお話しします。

長い話を短くすると、2025年末に「Complexity」の活動終了を決めました。ご存じの方も多いと思いますが、私は数年前に会社を買い戻しました。その時点で、厳しい道のりになることはわかっていました。

その後、業界の状況や事業の現状、買い戻しの際に売り手側が引き受けた債務を返済するための資金調達の見通しを検討しました。そして、ほかの組織で時折見られるような破綻を迎えるよりも、秩序を保ち、責任を持って活動を終えることが最善だと判断しました。

23年間で初めて、私とチーム運営の中核を担ってきた仲間たちはComplexityの一員ではなくなりました。自分で話していても不思議な気持ちですが、これが現在の状況です。しっかりと説明し、一つの区切りをつけたいと思いました。

何かが終わる悲しさよりも、素晴らしい23年間に目を向けたいと思います。Complexityには、何百人もの素晴らしい人たちが関わってきました。コアメンバーの中には、15年以上も一緒に働いてくれた人がいます。eスポーツの世界では、かなり珍しいことだと思います。

同僚として、投資家として、選手としてComplexityに関わってくださったすべてのみなさんに感謝します。全員にお礼を伝え始めたら、5時間くらいの動画になってしまうほどたくさんの方に関わっていただきました。みなさんに心から感謝していることを知っていただきたいと思います。Complexityという家族と過ごした四半世紀近くの日々には、素晴らしい思い出がたくさんあります。

もちろん、世界中のファンのみなさんにも感謝しなければなりません。私たちに温かく接し、応援してくださってありがとうございました。今でも「ユニフォームはどこで買えますか」とメッセージをいただきます。もう販売していないのですが、そうやって気にかけてくださることがうれしいです。

「ありがとう」という言葉だけでは、気持ちを伝えきれないと感じています。ほかに何と言えばいいのかわかりません。本当に、本当にありがとうございました。

ありがたいことに、同僚のほとんどはすでに次の仕事に就いています。素晴らしいSNS担当のKatieは、現在も仕事を探しています。おそらくこの投稿にコメントしてくれると思います。私の相互フォロワーやeスポーツ業界の関係者で、優秀なSNS担当者を探している方がいたら、ぜひKatieに連絡してください。

お伝えしたいことは、だいたい以上です。私がComplexityを買い戻した際の債権をGameSquareが保有していたため、Complexityの知的財産権はGameSquareに戻しました。Complexityの名称などの権利は残っていますが、私とコアメンバーはもうチーム運営に関わっておらず、経営上の決定権も所有権も一切ありません。

私自身について言えば、まだ終わりではありません。もちろんです。今年は、以前から必要だと感じていた休暇を取り、休息を取って家族と多くの時間を過ごしました。長年、強いストレスの中で走り続けてきた私には、どうしても必要な時間でした。

そして今は、新しいものを作ることにとてもわくわくしています。周囲を見渡し、自分が意味のある形で貢献できる場所を探しています。もちろん、それがeスポーツであればうれしいです。ただ、現在の状況で自分にその機会があるかはわかりません。それでも、引退するつもりはまったくありません。

私は何かを作ることも、人を率いることも大好きです。今後のことはこのXアカウントでお伝えします。これからは、もう少し積極的に発信したいと思います。相互フォロワーの方々にも連絡するつもりです。しばらく表に出ていませんでした。

知的財産権を戻すための会社間の手続きや法務、M&A関連の作業には、半年かかりました。その間に休息も取れました。これからまた動き始めて、自分がどこで最も意味のある貢献をできるか探していきます。

Complexityについて

Complexityは、Team 3Dに続くアメリカ2番目のプロゲームチームとして、2003年に元法律事務所経営者のJason Lake氏によって設立されました。

Complexityは「DirecTV」と「GameSquare」を相手に2度のブランド売却・買い戻しを経験しています。

2024年にチームを買い戻してからは改めて独自経営に移行していましたが、経済的に厳しい状況を理由に、2025年にチームのルーツであるCounter-Strike部門を閉鎖していました。
