Counter-Strikeメジャー大会『BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025』に出場するスウェーデンチーム「Metizport」のhampus選手が、インタビューにてスウェーデンCounter-Strikeの復興についてコメントしています。
スウェーデンチームのメジャー出場は6年ぶり
メンバー全員がスウェーデンのプレイヤーで構成されたチームがメジャー大会に出場するのは、『StarLadder Berlin Major 2019』に出場した「Ninjas in Pyjamas」以来で、実に6年ぶりとなります。
スウェーデンはCounter-Strikeの強豪国としてシーンに君臨してきましたが、時代は流れて多国籍選手構成のチームがシーンを席巻するようになりました。
BLAST.tv公式サイトに掲載されたインタビューにて、hampus選手がスウェーデンCounter-Strikeの復興について語っていました。
―― メジャーに出場が決定したことについてどう感じていますか？
hampus：最高の気分です。直近3回は出場を逃し、その前は3大会連続で出場していました。
スウェーデンチームが再びメジャーに出場するということを本当にうれしく思っています。
全員がスウェーデンプレイヤーのチームがメジャーに出場するのは6年ぶりですから。
―― スウェーデンCounter-Strikeをメジャーに復活させることは、あなたにとってどのような意味を持ちますか？
hampus：自分がNinjas in Pyjamasの一員としてメジャーに出場した時は、デンマークの選手もメンバーとなっていました。全員がスウェーデンの選手ではありませんでした。
そして、Ninjas in PyjamasやFnaticはスウェーデンCounter-Strikeの実力を信じられない、才能ある選手がいない、選手層が薄いと言って離れていきました。自分はそう思いません。本当にスウェーデンロスターを構築したいなら、3つのスウェーデントップチームを1つにまとめれば良いのです。
そのような状況があっても、自分はスウェーデンチームでプレーしたいと思い続けていました。BLEEDで1年プレーしましたが、その時はスウェーデンのチームでプレーする選択肢がありませんでした。Ninjas in Pyjamasでプレーしている時も、スウェーデンチームでプレーしたいと思っていました。Ninjas in Pyjamasを離れたのはそれが理由です(※NiPはロスターを国際化する方針となった)。
スウェーデンのためにMetizportでプレーする、これは自分にとって非常に大きな意味を持ちます。Metizportを信じてくれる人は多くありませんでした。スウェーデンチームがメジャーに再び出場できるとは、誰も思っていなかったでしょう。ですから、メジャーでプレーできることを本当に嬉しく思っています。自分自身、チームメイト、Metizportという組織を誇りに思っています。
―― Metizportはあなたが加入する前からスウェーデンチームとして好成績を収めてきました。他のチームも同様です。Ninjas in PyjamasやFnaticは、なぜそのようなスウェーデンCounter-Strikeシーンを信じなくなってしまったのだと思いますか？
hampus：理由は単純で、スウェーデンは選手層が薄いということでしょう。ロスター変更を検討した場合に、スウェーデンだと対象となるのは5選手ほどですが、多国籍の場合は50選手くらいから検討できます。
そしておっしゃるとおり、スウェーデンにはすばらしいチームや選手がたくさんいます。
Metizportの現ラインナップ、以前のラインナップ、Johnny Speeds、EYEBALLERS、Alliance、スウェーデンチーム所属ではありませんがBrollan選手やREZ選手も活躍しています。
nawwk選手も健在ですし、HEROICのLNZ選手、Wildcardのsusp選手とphzy選手など、いまでも優秀なスウェーデンプレーヤーはたくさんいます。OGのspooke選手もメジャーに出場しますし、この他にも多くの良い選手がいます。
長年にわたりスウェーデンに多大な貢献をしてきたNinjas in Pyjamas、Fnaticが、スウェーデンCounter-Strikeを諦めてしまったのは個人的に残念です。
