公式サイトでは、各国の代表が競い合う本大会について以下のように表現されていました。
eスポーツの歴史で初めて、地域ごとの基盤からナショナルチームが結成され、選手たちは母国を代表して競い合うために集結します。各国のアイデンティティや誇りに基づく新たなファンダムが形成されます。
韓国のLeague of Legendsにおける覇権、インドのチェス人気、ブラジルのCounter-Strikeにおける伝統、日本の格闘ゲーム文化、モバイルゲームの強豪を輩出する東南アジアなどを背景に、Esports Nations Cupはグローバル競技の新たな舞台を創り出します。

現時点で、100を超える国と地域がこのシステムに参加しています。Esports Nations Cupは構想段階から実施に向けて動いており、eスポーツ国別対抗戦をグローバルな競技シーンにおける永続的なものとして確立していきます。
