『PGL Major Singapore 2026』に関するビッグアップデート
- 初となる3位決定戦をグランドファイナルの前に実施
- 11月2日付けのVRSランキングを使用
- 32チーム出場、賞金総額125万ドル
3位決定戦の実施について
メジャー大会のプレーオフはシングルエリミネーション方式トーナメントで行なわれ、これまで3位決定戦の実施はなく、同順のベスト4という結果で締めくくられてきました。
これまで、大会最終日のグランドファイナル前には、大会の開催地に関わりのあるプレイヤー・元プロ・ストリーマーなどによるショーマッチが行なわれてきましたが、今回は3位決定戦が実施されます。
実施の意図として「大会最終日にさらなる意義を加え、表彰台入りを可能とし、大会の締めくくる日としてふさわしいものとする」という説明が行なわれていました。
公式ランキングValve Regional Standings (VRS)の仕組みが導入されてから、3位と4位にポイントや賞金の差を付けることを目的に主要大会でも3位決定戦の導入が進んでいます。

出場チームの決定時期について
『PGL Major Singapore 2026』は、2026年に実施される後期メジャー大会で、11月25日～12月13日に実施されます。
大会に出場するチームは、公式ランキングValve Regional Standings (VRS)を元に決定されます。
大会開催の1～2ヶ月前に更新された最新版が使用されてきましたが、『PGL Major Singapore 2026』では開催3週間前のものが使用されることになります。

観戦者としては、直近の競技結果がより強く反映されたチームを見ることができるのがメリットです。
各チームは、出場権利を得るために大会開催の3週間前まで様々な大会に出場しポイントを稼ぐことが必要になるほか、出場権を手にした後の準備期間が非常にタイトとなります。
出場手続きの締め切りは11月6日、大会関連アイテムに必要なデータの提出は11月9日厳守とされていました。
大会を運営するPGL、大会アイテムの作成やゲームとの連動コンテンツを準備するValveも厳しいスケジュールとなる一方で、最新の競技結果を反映した大会とすることが意図されているとみられます。
